Welcome to HIMI, London’s first Neo-Izakaya.

Husband-and-wife chef duo Tamas and Tomoko invite you to HIMI, their homage to the bustling drinking and dining dens of Tokyo and Osaka—places where coworkers, friends, and family gather to unwind with delicious seasonal food and exceptional drinks.

Step inside the cosy Soho space, where the lively atmosphere buzzes with conversation and laughter. Take a seat at the bar, sip on an ice-cold beer, savour classic Japanese dishes, and soak in the warmth and energy.

Nestled in the cobbled streets of Newburgh Street, Soho, London, HIMI is the perfect destination to meet, relax, and enjoy the vibrant spirit of Japanese dining.

“Himi” is a name that combines “Hi” (representing Japan) and “Mi” (meaning flavour or taste), symbolising the harmony of Japan’s natural abundance and rich culinary culture. The darker central element in the logo represents rice, the cornerstone of Japanese cuisine, while the surrounding concentric rings evoke tree growth rings, reflecting the cycles of nature and our commitment to sustainable growth. The sun and light motifs also emphasise the warmth and brightness of Japan, inviting you to explore and enjoy new cultural experiences. Our goal is to create a welcoming sp ace where everyone, even those new to Japanese food and culture, can feel at ease. We hope to offer a place where you can easily discover the flavours and traditions of Japan in a comfortable, relaxed setting.
